We are Kickstarting a New Highly-Thematic Game: The Legends of Sleepy Hollow
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 17, 2017 at 11:49:08 PM

Greetings backers! We don't often post in previous projects about our new Kickstarter campaigns, but given the nature of the project we just launched, we thought that a lot of you might want to know about it!

The Legends of Sleepy Hollow
The Legends of Sleepy Hollow

We are making a new, highly-thematic co-op called The Legends of Sleepy Hollow. It is an adventure game with "legacy" elements, which means that the game and characters change as you play through them. The game is designed by Ben Pinchback & Matt Riddle (designers of Fleet and Wasteland Express Delivery Service), and illustrated by Hugo award-winning artist Abigail Larson, with Colin Chan and Ksenia Svincova. It has been in development with Chris Kirkman and the Dice Hate Me Games crew for many years, the same development team that brought you Fate of the Elder Gods! We think that some of you will be very interested in checking the game out!

Fulfillment Complete!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Sep 21, 2017 at 12:26:28 AM

Greetings Cultists!

All of the backer rewards have now left our warehouse, including all of the extra games for Elder God backers, so we are ready to turn out the lights on this campaign! We are still getting some reports of games being stuck in customs in the EU, so if your game has not arrived yet, or if you have any other customer service issue, shoot an email to [email protected] and he'll work to sort it out asap!

Thank you all so very much for your support on this campaign. We definitely could not have made the game without you, and thank you for sticking with us through the production and fulfillment process. You all are awesome!!

Elder God Extra Copies Shipping Soon!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Sep 05, 2017 at 11:50:06 PM

Greetings awesome backers! We are going to be shipping out the extra, signed copies of the game to Elder Gods backers by the end of the week! We have a giant stack of signed copies that we brought back from Gen Con, and are working on putting that shipment together.

A few backers outside North America have mentioned that they still have not gotten their games. You should all have yours by the end of the week at the latest - if you don't have it by then, please send us a message and we'll look into it!

Expect one more update from us once the final Elder Gods shipments go out, and then we'll sign off! Thank you so much for supporting us through this campaign!

The Fate of Fate of the Elder Gods
over 6 years ago – Tue, Aug 22, 2017 at 11:47:23 PM

Hello everyone!

We are finally back from Gen Con, and what an incredible show! We were able to show so many people Fate of the Elder Gods, and the response was overwhelmingly possible. Many of you stopped by the booth or our demo room to say hello and talk about the game, and it was very much appreciated. We couldn’t have shared Fate if it weren’t or all of you, so thank you so much.

Richard Launius drops in to join in the taunting during a demo. I think this player had three curses on them - not surprising considering Bokrug was in play!

Richard, Darrell, and me (Chris) took a couple of hours on Thursday morning to sign copies from fans at the show and also to sign all the copies for the Elder God level backers! They should be shipping out soon.

We’ve noticed a few questions have popped up in the comments since we were away, and we’ll try to address those as soon as possible. In the meantime…

About Cult Cards, Azathoth, and the Promotional Monsters

Many of you have asked about the Cult Cards that come with the Kickstarter edition and how they should be used in games of Fate of the Elder Gods. The Cult Cards are meant to be supplemental powers for your Cults during the game.

During set-up, all players must agree to use the Cult Cards. Beginning with the player who will take the last turn and proceeding in reverse turn order, each player will choose whether to use the Cult Card associated with their particular Elder God or choose one of the general, unaffiliated Cult Cards. During the game, players may activate their Cult abilities at any appropriate time as stated on the card. This ability does not have to be activated by The Ceremony like an Elder God’s Dark Gift.

As for the Shan and Ghoul promo cards, there are not associated miniatures for these cards (although we’ve joked that the Shan is included in the Beasts from Beyond box, it’s just too small to see!). These can be included in any game that uses the Monsters from BfB.

As for Azathoth, you all can feel free to include Az in games of Fate of the Elder Gods. But be warned - Azathoth is intended for advanced play! Azathoth has a very unique passive Dark Gift ability that can be incredibly tricky to control and/or stop if you’re not familiar with how Fate of the Elder Gods plays. We would recommend not including Azathoth in your first couple of games. Later, you’ll find this pesky Elder God a rewarding puzzle to add some variety.

Just like Azathoth, we also recommend that you do not include Cult Cards or the Beasts From Beyond expansion in your first games of Fate of the Elder Gods. There are plenty of awesome things to do and explore in just the base game. Once you all know the ropes, you’ll be ready to tackle the extra challenges!

Our apologies for not addressing this before Gen Con! We hope this is helpful.

A Note to EU Backers

Some of you have mentioned being hit with customs fees. Here is a repeat of what we mentioned in Update #34! “Some backers in the EU might be charged customs or import taxes. If that happens, just take a photo of the receipt and send an email at [email protected] with your PayPal email address, and I'll send you a refund right away.”

We want to take care of you, so please ask for help if you need it!

Spread the Love

Quite a few of you have already been talking about how much you’ve enjoyed Fate of the Elder Gods on BoardGameGeek and social media, and that’s awesome! If you love Fate as much as we do, please share it wherever you can. And if you’re a BGG user, please consider rating the game so that more people can be aware of and enjoy the game.

If any of you have questions about the game, please post in the BoardGameGeek forums or email me directly at [email protected]. We will be compiling an FAQ in the next couple of weeks to post here and on BGG.

Thanks again so much for all the support, and happy gaming!
Chris, Richard, and Darrell
