BackerKit Surveys About To Go Out!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 12, 2016 at 09:47:37 PM

Greetings!

This is just a quick update to let you know that Kickstarter surveys are about to go out! For this campaign, we are using a pledge manager called "BackerKit", which we have used in the past. It will import all of your pledge info from Kickstarter and let you input your address, confirm add-ons, etc.

To help us plan production, please answer your survey as soon as you get it. If you wind up changing addresses between now and the delivery date, don't worry! You can update your address at any time, and we'll remind you before we start shipping.

Finally, if you have any issues with the survey, please don't hesitate to let us know so that we can solve them for you.

Greetings Lovecraft lovers,

It’s the first Tuesday of the month, and that means it’s time for an update!

First of all, as mentioned in the last update, sculptor Chad Hoverter will be starting on monster mini sculpts this month and through November, so we’ll keep everyone up to date on those as they come in.

Second, Richard, Darrell and I (Chris) have just wrapped up our final revisions for all the Spells, Elder Gods, Curses, Artifacts, and Ithaqua’s Squall token abilities based on playtests and feedback, and those are ready to rock. All graphic design for the game is complete except for rulebook formatting which is our next editing project.

Next, let’s talk honestly about the art situation. Jorge Ramos has done a fantastic job on a number of the Elder God portraits and Artifact renders, but he has recently informed us that he needs to bow out of the rest because of an unexpected overabundance in his teaching assignments. It’s an unfortunate situation, but we respect that he needs to focus on educating.

Of course, Jorge’s departure has left us with a hole to fill for the rest of the art; fortunately, we have help. Nolan Nasser (artist for the gorgeous board and box arts) has graciously offered to help pick up the slack for Artifacts and possibly a portion of the Elder Gods. You can see an example of Nolan’s first artifact, the Skull of Lore, below.

As for Elder Gods, we have drafted the help of veteran artist Lucas Durham. Lucas has done great work for Fantasy Flight Games, Catalyst Games, The Topps Company, and more, and you can check out his portfolio right here.

Losing an artist mid-production is never ideal, but it happens on big projects. We provided plenty of time in our production estimates for any unexpected hiccups like this so it won’t put us behind, especially considering how much lead time we have already put into graphic design and editing. We just wanted to keep you all in the know of what’s going on and what can sometimes happen behind the scenes.

We’ll be back soon with more art previews from Nolan and Lucas as they tear into the remainder. And, of course, we can’t wait to share more of Chad’s great work with you all, as well. Stay tuned, and until next time, happy gaming!

Monsters & More!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Sep 07, 2016 at 12:03:44 AM

Greetings Lovecraft lovers,

We’re here today with a little production update just to keep you all informed. Typically, we send out an update to all of our Kickstarter projects that are in active production on the first Tuesday of each month, so keep an eye out for those!

As for production, we’ve wrapped up about 95% of the graphic design for the project. Artist Jorge Ramos is busy cranking on the remainder of the Elder Gods illustrations, as well as the Artifacts. Sculptor Chad Hoverter will be starting on the Monster minis in October, so we can’t wait to start seeing previews of those! We’ll be sure to share pics of them as they come along.

In the meantime, how about a sneak peek at some more stuff from the Beasts From Beyond expansion? Since the expansion is all about the Monsters, it only makes sense that there be a way to lure them into servitude for your particular Cult, hence the Spells. However, great corrupted power always comes at a price, so when Cults incant Call of the Wicked Ones they’ll also receive a Curse! It may seem harsh, but it’s a paltry sum compared to what the Monsters can do for you.

Of course, where there be Monsters there will likely be the Mother goddess, Shub-Niggurath. As you can see, Shub can call forth Monsters with her Dark Gift and not incur a Curse!

That’s it for this update but we’ll back soon with more production updates and a lot more art and miniature previews. Just FYI, Richard Launius and I (Chris) will be at GrandCon in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Sept. 16-18, so if you’d like to say hi and/or get in a game with us we’d be more than happy to oblige. Until next time, happy gaming!

Something Wicked Has Awakened

Greetings Lovecraft lovers!

Woohoo, you did it! Thanks to all of you we are now able to produce Fate of the Elder Gods with all of the awesome content on our dream list! Here is a short video of Darrell & Chris with a few words of thanks, and what to expect in the future.

Thank you all so much for an absolutely incredible campaign. The overwhelming positive support we received has been amazing. Stay tuned for more as we head down the road toward production, and we can't wait until you're all summoning ancient evil around your game tables.

All the best,
Chris, Darrell, Richard, and the entire Greater Than Games team

Just A Bit More Madness
over 7 years ago – Fri, Aug 19, 2016 at 09:41:48 PM

Greetings Lovecraft lovers!

Well, things have certainly picked up since the 48 hour notifications went out! We’ve now unlocked absolutely everything… or have we? *insert mischievous laughter*

Ahem. Ok, yes, we have unlocked absolutely everything, but because you’re all so awesome and we’ve raised much more than $150k, you’re going to get just a bit more.

First off, we’re going to add some UV coating to parts of the game board, which was talked about as an option way back toward the beginning of the game.

Next, we are going to screen print the Necronomicon symbol on top of each Cult’s Summon Track markers for some added flair.

Finally, everyone’s getting another Monster for the beastly menagerie. This Monster is just a little bit different from the others - it’s so tiny that it won’t need a miniature. We’re talking about the Insects from Shaggai, or the Shan!

The Shan are tiny alien insects that merge one of their 3 brains with the human brain, taking over a person’s actions and leaving them confused for days or weeks after. The Shan typically use humans for building things the insects might need for their nefarious plots. Of course, in Fate of the Elder Gods, perhaps you can coerce the Shan into helping you carry out your nefarious plots against the other Cults!

Finally today, we have a short video play-through of the solo version of Fate of the Elder Gods. In the video, Darrell shows how to play the game on Expert Mode - and gets a bit of a comeuppance from the powers of good in Arkham. The great thing about the solo mode is that the difficulty can be adjusted very easily, providing a leisurely few minutes of play, or a heart-pounding roller coaster of destruction. It’s your choice!

And that’s that for today. We cannot thank all of you enough for all the excitement and support. We hope these final few surprises make you all happy, because you’ve certainly warmed all of our cold, cultist hearts.
