Insert Update Here
almost 7 years ago – Sat, May 13, 2017 at 12:49:52 AM

Greetings Lovecraft Lovers!

Just a super quick update today — we received samples of the inserts for the main box and the expansion this week, and thought it would be cool to shoot a special video for all of you.

You'll notice a couple of things missing from the video, like the dice, but not to worry - there's plenty of room in the inserts for all the bits!

We'll be back with more as soon as we receive the Mass Production Copy proofs. Until then, happy gaming!

Awash in Madness

Greetings Lovecraft Lovers,

Happy May, everyone! It’s time for us to check in on the first Tuesday of the month, so we’re here to share with you a couple of peeks into production.

Below you’ll find pics of the minis from the factory with the ink wash applied. In the group picture you can see a sample of a Cultist without the wash for comparison. They’re looking great!

Next up are dice samples with the actual colors that will come in the game.

That’s it for physical bits, but we have one more sneak peek for all of you who will receive the art book. Here’s one of the custom pieces Nolan Nasser has been working on for Darrell’s pick of Lovecraft story to include - At the Mountains of Madness!

We’ll be back soon with more once we receive the Mass Production Copy proofs (and we can’t wait)! Until then, ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

Proof of Life
about 7 years ago – Sat, Apr 22, 2017 at 01:21:38 AM

Greetings Lovecraft Lovers,

Proofs are here, proofs are here! Yesterday we received the pre-production copy (PPC) proofs of Fate of the Elder Gods and the Beasts From Beyond expansion. These copies are prepared by hand, with laser cut punchboard, so that we can check the colors, print quality, and see how everything's going to look.

We're pleased to report that everything is looking great! Check out the pics below to see what's inside the PPCs.

The box fronts and backs. It's difficult to capture the UV coating on the main box, but you can see the effect a tiny bit on the tentacle in the lower right. We can assure you, though, it looks really cool. We'll see if we can get a better shot of the effect for the next update.

What's inside the main box! Also note the black interior. It's a tiny detail but Darrell insisted on it; glad he did, as it looks super cool.

All the printed bits!

A close-up of one of the Lodge player mats so you can see the linen finish. All the cards and mats have this finish.

The punchboard with Elder Signs and Ithaqua's Winter Squall tokens. This punchboard is 3mm thick, so the Elder Signs will have some nice heft to them when they're clogging up your Summoning Track.

The Altar board. Many of you will notice that the board is slightly off-center and cut close on some edges. This happens with a custom piece like this in PPCs as it is completely done by hand. Panda's production team will be checking alignment and cuts on the final boards as they roll off the assembly line.

Just to show you that the Beasts From Beyond box will, indeed, fit in the main box, with plenty of room for the board on top!

The next step of the process is to receive mass production copy (MPC) proofs, which are full copies of the games with all components (cards, minis, dice, etc.) just as they will arrive to all of you. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we receive them!

Something Mini This Way Comes
about 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 04, 2017 at 11:24:13 PM

Greetings Lovecraft lovers,

It’s update time, and we have great things to share!

First off, it’s show and tell time for the miniatures. We recently received the physical proofs and they look fantastic. The Panda Games team not only preserved the fine details of the original sculpts, they actually improved them! You’ll find detailed pics of them below. Note that the yellow used for these is just for proofing; the final minis will be in different colors.

The minis are officially approved and mass production has begun. We’ll keep you updated on the progress and share pics when we can. As for the ink wash, we don’t have a physical sample of that just yet. Also, we learned that the original quote we received for the wash was just for the large Fate Pieces and the monster minis. The revised quote for the investigators and the cultists bumped the production costs up more than just a bit (especially the cultists because they are all in different colors, and there are 80 of them). In the end we decided to pull the trigger on the wash for the investigators since they will be in the same neutral gray as the monster minis. This will also prevent possible production delays in adjusting the various color washes needed for the cultists after tests are done. We already know the washes look great on the grey from Panda production samples, so we’re set there and ready to rock.

In other production news, all prepress checks have been done on the paper and cardboard files and we’re now in the production proofing phase of things with Panda. We should have factory digital proofs this week, and then a physical pre-production proof (PPC) of everything a couple of weeks after that. We’re at the point now where we’ll be posting updates on progress as soon as we have something new on the production front to share. As for a delivery timeline, we should be looking at arrival at the GTG warehouse in July for immediate fulfillment provided there are no typhoons bombarding China at the time (a thing that really happened to a Sentinels of the Multiverse expansion).

In other other production news, we’ve changed the dimensions for the Beasts From Beyond expansion box. Because the Shoggoth mini is so big, it wouldn’t really fit in the original box dimensions we had planned. This turned out to be a good thing, as we redesigned the box so that it will actually fit inside the main box after production. You can see the shape and size of the new box below.

Lastly, some of you were wondering about the exact count and dimensions of all the cards in the main game and expansion. So here’s the official list:

127 Mini Euro Cards (44 x 68mm)
20 Square cards (70 x 70mm)
32 Tarot cards (70 x 120mm)

That about wraps it up for this update, but we’ll be back soon with more on the production front. We’re super excited about how everything is shaping up, and we can’t wait until you all can finally hasten doom for all humanity, all from the comfort of your kitchen table!

Wicked News
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 09, 2017 at 12:25:43 AM

Greetings Lovecraft lovers!

Well, we’re a day late in making our usual monthly production update, but thankfully there’s a lot of great news to share!

First off, we’re pleased to announce that all the minis will now be ink washed! The original quote for the process was a bit more expensive than everyone had anticipated, but Panda Game Manufacturing was able to work with us to make it affordable. So now the minis are going to look absolutely incredible right out of the box. We don’t have any physical samples of this process just yet, but we’ll be sure to show you all when we do.

Next, all the files are done, proofed, and sent to Panda to start the full production process. Next step will be evaluating factory digital proofs, then full physical samples. It will be a little while before we have those, though, as the mini production process is going to take some time. All of that is completely underway, though, so things are right on schedule.

While we were wrapping up files, we also had Nolan do a little tinkering on Azathoth and Shub-Niggurath. We think his alterations have made these illustrations really special.

We also made a revision to the Lodge boards, putting a subtle reminder of where players’ Spell Reserves are, and the Spell Reserve card limit.

Finally, we got production samples of the new dice with the yellow faces (we think they look awesome), as well as the player Summoning Track tokens in the revised colors. You can also get a glimpse of what the plastic colors will look like, as well.

In non-production news, if you’re planning on attending PAX East this weekend in Boston, stop by the Greater Than Games booth in the tabletop area, booth C-2625, and say hello! Chris will be there, and we will have open demos of Fate of the Elder Gods in the Free Play area that is right next to the booth.
